The storyline of the movie follows the journey of former Test and ODI captain Mithali Raj in her life. The legendary cricketer, who had a glorious 23-year career, confirmed her retirement from all forms of international cricket on June 8, 2022. Together with Taapsee, she pushed the movie throughout its marketing, but sadly, it didn’t perform well at the box office.

The overall budget of this sports biopic is Rs 30 Crore. Shabaash Mithu made 0.40 crore on its first day in domestic theatres. It made 0.60 crores the next day, and around 0.69 crores the following day.
The movie made 2.52 crore (US$320,000) in India in the first week after its release. It grossed 0.24 crore (US$30,000) abroad, for a total global worth of 2.76 crore (US$350,000).

The OTT release date of the sports movie Shabaash Mithu is August 15, 2022. The movie will be available to stream on Voot Select with the subscription. Voot has officially announced that fans can enjoy this movie in August, however, the release date is yet to be confirmed.
