BCB officials has confirmed that seven of their players who are part of the Lanka Premier League 2021 draft will not play from the beginning of the tournament due to national duty
BCB cricket operation chairman Akram Khan confirmed on Saturday that seven Bangladeshi cricketers will not be available at the starting of the Lanka Premier League due to their series against Australia. The LPL 2021 will take place from July 30 to August 22 this year and at the same time, Australia will visit Bangladesh for a five-match T20 series. The latter will begin on 2nd August and go on till 8th August at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka.
Bangladesh will also host New Zealand and England after their series against Australia as they prepare for the upcoming ICC World T20 in UAE and Oman in October-November.
Bangladesh Players Who Will Join The 2021 Lanka Premier League Later
BCB cricket operation chairman Akram Khan also stated that while the seven Bangladeshi cricketers will not play in the Lanka Premier League from the beginning due to their series with Australia, they will have some time to join the LPL 2021 tournament later.
Following are the seven Bangladesh cricketers who have registered for the LPL but will join later: Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, Mehidy Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar. Akram stated that while all the Bangladeshi cricketers are set to play across different formats, they will always prioritize national matches. They have said that if they are picked and if they can manage to have time to play in LPL they will play there but not at the expense of skipping any national duty,” stated Akram Khan.
BCB has also sent a separate letter to the national contract probables to inform them about their availability in the upcoming year. Though BCB is yet to disclose the names of the players contracted for 2021, twenty-two cricketers have received the letter from the board and 18 of them will get a central contract.
