Sergio Ramos, Paris Saint-Germain defender will miss the Champions League clash against Real Madrid, his former club where he spent 16 seasons. The Ligue 1 side confirmed the news about him not being added to the squad against Los Blancos. The ex Real-Madrid captain is now in the same team with his long-time rival Lionel Messi. Both the players fought against each other for more than a decade.

The Spaniard has been sidelined with a calf injury and it is the third time he suffered the issue since he joined the club in the summer’s transfer window in 2021.

The Spain international has suffered a “calf injury” because of which, he is not added to the squad for his side against the Whites, the club confirmed.

Ramos arrived at the club with a calf complaint that resulted in him missing 19 games at the start of the 2022-22 season because of which, he couldn’t debut until November 28.

Multiple calf injuries and muscular problems are causing the player to miss several matches for Paris Saint-Germain because of many spells taking place on the sidelines.

The 35-year-old centre-back will not appear against his former club, as announced by the French club and is said to be training individually for his calf injury. The club will make a new evaluation within a week. His return date can be expected after he will be examined again in a week.

It is a hope that the player might be able to travel to Spain for his club’s fixture against former club Real Madrid for the 2nd leg of the last-16 tie next in March.

Sergio Ramos joined the French club in the 2021 Summer Transfer Window and made his debut for the club against Saint-Etienne on November  28 and was injured following “muscle fatigue”. Before he appeared for his new club, the defender Ramos had not played a match for 207 days, the lengthiest duration he had faced on the sidelines in his entire career.
