Over the next eight years, he made a total of 27 appearances. “Immensely saddened” by Scotland’s death, describing him as “a player ahead of his time, a true trailblazer”. according to Scottish Rugby, which expressed “immense sadness” after news of his passing.

“Ken was undoubtedly one of the greatest players ever to grace the rugby field and was one of the nicest chaps you could ever meet.” said Andy Irvine, another former Scotland fullback.

Ken Scotland, was born in 1933, made his debut in the rugby union Five Nations Championship in 1957, playing against France. Twenty years old at the time, he got off to a rousing start by scoring a drop goal and a penalty in a 6-0 victory at the Stade Colombes in Paris. He would go on to win a total of 27 more Scotland caps after this one.
Scotland was a trailblazing fullback because of his willingness to assist with offensive plays from the back. Because of his great play, he was included on the Leicester City all-time team in 1999. Furthermore, he played in all five Tests during the 1959 Lions’ trip of Australia and New Zealand.
