The national award-winning director Hansal Mehta is recognised for telling gritty, true-to-life stories and creating complex characters. His well-regarded works like “Shahid,” “City Lights,” and “Aligarh” perfectly capture his audacious and distinctive cinematic style.
The director is well known for creating the financially suspenseful television series Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta, starring Pratik Gandhi and based on the life of Indian stockbroker Harshad Mehta. Modern Love: Mumbai, a new romantic comedy on Amazon Prime Video, is also co-written and co-produced by him.

For the first time in his career, he is now working with the well-known digital streaming powerhouse Netflix on his new character drama series Scoop. It is based on the biography “Behind the Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison” by crime reporter Jigna Vora, which was published in February 2022.
The Plot Story Of The Series Scoop
The series will follow the adventures of crime reporter Jagruti Pathak, whose life is turned upside down when she is accused of the brutal murder of another reporter, Jaideb Sen. She finds herself sharing a cell with the people she used to cover.
A reputed keen shooter, a dishonest bookie, and the infamous Chhota Rajan are among the other individuals indicted. It will depict the journalist’s seven-year struggle and everything she endured while staying behind the walls.
The Crew & Cast of Scoop
Under the banner of Matchbox Shots, the series has already begun its shoot. It was created by Mrunnayee Lagoo Waikul and Meta, who also collaborated on the 2020 drama film Thappad with director Anubhav Sinha.
According to rumours, actress Karishma Tanna, who most recently appeared in the television series Guilty Minds on Amazon Prime Video, has been cast in the lead role of Scoop.
She will portray Jagruti Pathak, a driven criminal reporter in the character drama series who was inspired by Jigna Vora’s character.
Sanjay Routray, a producer at Matchbox Shots, stated that when discussing the idea of creating the series on this subject, they felt the inspirational tale of grit and courage deserved to be presented on a bigger platform as soon as they read the book. Therefore, creating a series was a better opportunity to further develop the characters’ feelings.
