Ghaziabad trials mark the beginning of SSPL’s nationwide rollout, with upcoming trials planned across major cities in the coming weeks
Ghaziabad : The School Shooting Premier League (SSPL), India’s first-ever professional shooting league for school athletes, has announced its Trial 1 – Delhi NCR, to be held at the Ghaziabad Shooting Club, near KBD Public School, Kavi Nagar, from October 28 to November 2, 2025, between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
The week-long event will serve as the official talent identification and selection trial for young shooters from across Delhi NCR and neighboring states. Designed to provide a structured pathway from school-level participation to national and international circuits, SSPL aims to bring India’s next generation of Olympic shooting champions into the spotlight.
Speaking on the announcement, Ayush Yadav, Founder of SSPL, said, “We are thrilled to kick off the SSPL trials from Ghaziabad — a city known for its vibrant sports culture and enthusiastic youth. The School Shooting Premier League is not just a competition; it’s a movement to discover and nurture India’s finest young shooting talent. Starting our journey from Delhi-NCR holds special significance, as this region has long been a cradle for sports excellence. Through SSPL, we aim to empower passionate young shooters with access to structured coaching, mentorship, and competitive exposure — building a foundation for those who dream of representing India on the global stage.”
Adding his perspective, Olympian Deepak Kumar, Chief League Commissioner, SSPL, said, “Shooting as a sport demands immense focus, discipline, and precision — qualities that can be cultivated early through proper guidance. With SSPL, we are introducing a professional, league-based ecosystem right from the school level. This initiative aligns perfectly with India’s vision under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the New Sports Policy 2025, both of which emphasize integrating sports and academics. The Ghaziabad trials are just the beginning of a journey that will inspire thousands of young athletes to take up shooting seriously.”
The Delhi-NCR trials will feature multiple shooting disciplines, including 10m Air Rifle and 10m Air Pistol, under U-15 and U-19 categories for both boys and girls.
Over 800 students are expected to participate in SSPL Delhi NCR Trial – 1, along with parents, coaches, sports educators, and representatives from local institutions. Alongside the main competition, SSPL will host interactive sessions on shooting techniques, sports safety, and mental focus, giving students exposure to franchise-based team selections, sponsorship opportunities, and mentorship programs.
Selected participants from the Ghaziabad trials will qualify for the Delhi-NCR League Round, leading up to the National SSPL Championship to be held in early 2026.
