Amidst the ongoing crisis that has left fans of SC East Bengal in a frenzy, reports of one of the heads of the fan groups becoming a target of death threats has worsened matters.
SC East Bengal’s final stance on ISL agreement
The club’s top officials took a major decision on Friday when they refused to sign the agreement with Shree Cement Limited, which further intensified the upheaval. The East Bengal club management stated that the clauses in the ultimate agreement differed from the initial agreement signed by the two parties.
This decision has divided the fans of the Red and Gold Brigade. While some of them are supporting the club’s move against the agreement, other fan groups are protesting in opposition to the club’s officials. And that’s what happened with Rabi Shankar Sen, head of East Bengal the Real Power (EBRP) which is one of the fan groups of the East Bengal club.
“We will not sign the agreement where the members will lose their fundamental rights, where the club will be permanently handed over and we will lose the right over the ground, logo and tent”, said Kalyan Majumdar, East Bengal general secretary.
The decision was taken collectively at an emergency meeting held between 24 executive members of the club. Their final verdict can however endanger the team’s participation in the Indian Super League this season and fans will definitely hate to see that happen. Robbie Fowler responses to death threat received by SC East Bengal Fan
The Liverpool legend took to social media and commented, “Disgraceful but honestly not surprised”. SC East Bengal did not perform well in their debut ISL campaign and finished ninth last season under Fowler. The Red and Gold were able to secure only three wins, far outweighing their losses.
