Sarah Shulze, a great runner for the university’s women’s track and field and cross-country teams, died at the age of 21.

Her family stated she died just two days before, on April 13, in a statement uploaded to a website dedicated to her legacy on April 15.

Shulze’s death left her family “shocked and grief stricken,” according to her family. They continued,

Above all other things, Sarah was a power for good in the world.

Shulze’s death left the University of Wisconsin-sports Madison’s community “heartbroken,” according to a separate message issued to the Badgers’ Twitter account.

They said,

Sarah was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, friend, teammate and Badger student-athlete. We extend our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to Sarah’s family, friends and Badger teammates during this extraordinarily difficult time.

Who Is Sarah Shulze?

Sarah Victoria Shulze was a cross country, as well as a track and field, athlete.  Scott and Brigitte Shulze, her loving and kind parents raised her. She was born on October 1st 2001 in Wisconsin, United States, and grew up with her two sisters, Abbey and Ella.

She was 21 years old when her death was announced on her official website on April 15, 2022. Sarah was voted Female Athlete of the Year in Ventura County for the 2018-19 season.

Sarah Shulze had never been committed to anyone before her death. While performing on the track, she had a calm, happy life as a single woman. Looking at her past work history, it was evident that she had a busy life that included a lot of planning and sports activities.

Her Career

During her undergraduate and teenage days, Sarah decided to embark on a long journey. Indoor 2020, Outdoor 2020 Track, 2020 Cross Country, 2021 Indoor Track, 2021 Outdoor Track, 2021 Cross Country, and 2022 Indoor Track are among the matches where she performed.

Shulze experienced COVID limitations in the middle of the year when one of her 2020 outdoor tracks was cancelled. She later competed in Cross Country 2020, finishing 43rd and 5th at the Big Ten Championships, with a personal best time of 21:40:4. She began her 2021 season in the 3000m track, finishing 16th and posting a personal best of 9:43.09 on the court.

She completed the 5,000 metres in the Big Ten championships on February 25-27 and established a new personal best of 16:40.73. She has also competed in the Hawkeye B1G Invitational (February 12-13, 2021), Badger Icebreaker (January 16, 2021), and Big Ten Championships (May 16, 2021).

She competed in events such as the Big Ten Relays (April 23, 2021), Big Ten Invite #2 (April 9-10, 2021), and M City Classic (April 30-May 1, 2021), and more.

In the 2022 season, she ran her personal best distance in 4:56.57 at the Larry Wieczorek Invite, finishing the course’s first race in the 3000-metre category in 9:43.98.

She most recently finished seventh in the Badgers Windy City Invite on February 11-12, 2020, with a personal best 3000 metres of the race of 9:26.07. She has won at least two accolades, including Academic All-Big Ten Cross Country in 2020 and 2021 and Academic All-Big Ten Track in 2021.

Sarah Shulze Death Cause

Sarah Shulze, a student-athlete renowned for racing in cross-country and track events, died on April 13. Her family announced her death in an online statement on April 15. According to the post, the runner from Oak Park, California, “took her own life.”

It means she died by suicide.
