Disaster relief workers found the corpse of a 32-year-old revenue and circle officer on Sunday morning, three days after he vanished on an inspection check when his boat collapsed on the Brahmaputra river in Assam’s Dhubri district.

Who Was Sanju Das?
Sanju Das was a revenue and circle officer in the Assam government. He has been in the news because died recently after meeting an unfortunate accident.
He was a resident of Cachar’s Itongmara, Silchar, Assam.
He did his schooling at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Williamnagar, and Sacred Heart School, Williamnagar. Later, he studied Basic Administrative Nuggets at Assam Administrative Staff College. Furthermore, he did M.A.in Political Science and International Relations at IGNOU.
Later on, he studied Forest Law, Botany, Silviculture, Forest Accounts and Procedures, Mensuration, Forest Survey, etc at Meghalaya Forest Training School, East Garo Hills, Meghalaya. Later, he studied Modern Survey, Settlement, Land Records, Land Laws, etc. at Assam Survey and Settlement Training Center.
Later on, Sanju Das did his post-graduation in Environment and Sustainable Development at IGNOU. He also did MA in Political Science & International Relations at Indira Gandhi National Open University.
His Facebook id said that he got a U Tirot Sing Memorial Award at NEHU, Shillong, Meghalaya. It also added that he was a gold medallist from North Eastern Hill University, Shillong.
At the time of his death, he was just 32 years old.
His Career
Sanju Das started his illustrious career by started working in the Department of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Meghalaya. Later on, he became an assistant teacher at Pranabananda Vidyamandir, Ganganagar, Cachar.
Later on, in his life, he became an assistant instructor at Meghalaya Forest Training School, East Garo Hills, Meghalaya. He later became a forester in the Wildlife Wing of the Government of Meghalaya. Later, he became a block development officer.
Furthermore, he also worked as a Child development project officer and sub-registrar, executive officer of the municipal board of RK Nagar. Later, he became a circle officer-A & executive magistrate at Nilambazar revenue circle.
At the time of his death, he was a circle officer and executive magistrate, at Dhubri revenue circle.
How Did Sanju Das Die?
On Thursday morning, September 29, Sanju Das was on a boat on the Brahmaputra river inspecting an area of the district that had seen erosion. The boat capsized after it unintentionally collided with an underwater pillar of the Dhubri-Fulbari bridge that was still being built.
More than 25 individuals were aboard the boat. Local residents and government representatives swarmed to save them, but Das was nowhere to be seen.
Moferjal Sarkar, a representative of the Assam Disaster Management Authority in Dhubri, told the media that rescue workers from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) found his body at about 10.30 am, about 200 meters in advance of the location where the boat capsized.
The official said,
His body might have been trapped inside the sand on the riverbed in some way. It must have swollen by staying underwater these past two days and it floated today. NDRF and SDRF personnel were continuing search and rescue operations in the area and they noticed his body around 10:30 am.
