Sanatani Ganga Foundation has announced the upcoming Global Gangjyot Marathon 2024 at a press conference held at Hotel Le Meridian, New Delhi today. This marathon is set to take place from 24th February to 15th March 2024 which aims to advance projects focused on Ganga cleanliness and foster public awareness for Ganga conservation, alongside promoting spiritual connection among the populace.
The event was graced with the presence of dignitaries including Abdelrazeg Abu Jazer, Counsellor Embassy of the State of Palestine, Police Officer Lady Singham Ms. Kiran Sethi , reputed athlete Asian Marathon Champion the Brand Ambassador of the Global Gang Jyot Marathon Dr Sunita Godara , Acharya Lokesh Muni ji, President of Gangotri Dham Sri Harish semwal ji , Kathak Duo Nalini and Kamalini, Goswami Sushil Ji Maharaj, President, Bharatiya Sarvadharm Sansad. Vijendra Das from ISKCON ,TFCI’s CSR Head Sanjay Ahuja, Mr.Sandeep Marwah and others. Additionally , Sri Narayan Prasad Ex Tourism Minister of Bihar joined the press conference through Zoom Call.
The Global Gangjyot Marathon 2024 will kick off from the sacred origin of the Ganga at Gangotri in Uttarakhand on 24th Feb 2024 and culminate in Patna on 15th March. Patna being one of the major cities situated on the banks of the river Ganges, is the endpoint for this marathon.
This Marathon will traverse through cities along the banks of the river Ganga, including Gangotri, Devprayag, Rishikesh , Haridwar, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Patna. The event is set to witness the participation of eminent personalities from diverse various fields.
Sanatani Ganga Foundation, a non-governmental organization dedicated to Ganga cleanliness projects and spiritual awakening, has joined forces with Health Fitness Trust (HFT) for this initive. HFT was founded in 1994 by the reputed international athlete and marathoner, Dr. Sunita Godara. HFT is supported by the Tourism Finance Corporation of India Ltd. (TFCI) as part of its CSR initiative.

In collaboration with the Health Fitness Trust, the organization is dedicated to empowering underprivileged individuals by providing self-defense and martial arts education.
During this, prominent religious figures including Acharya Lokesh Muni ji, Goswami Sushil Ji Maharaj, Sri Vrajendra Nandan Das ji , Sri Harish Semwal ji, Mr. Sandeep Marwah ji and others highlighted the significance of the river Ganga. They underscored the need for public awareness regarding its conservation and cleaning, especially through an upcoming marathon. They commended the efforts of the Sanatani Ganga Foundation and TFCI for their proactive role in this regard.
Captain Praveen Kumar – President and spokesperson of the Sanatani Ganga Foundation said, “We want Sanatan values to spread across the world. Rivers have played a crucial role in flourishing civilizations globally. Our endeavor through the marathon is to make people conscious of the cleanliness of the Ganga. Hence we invite people from all walks of life, irrespective of faith, to join in this noble cause. During the Gangjyot yatra, we will distribute Gangotri Dham water and Gangjyot to connect people with the spiritual and cultural significance of river Ganga.”
The brand ambassador for the marathon and founder of Health Fitness Trust, Dr. Sunita Godara, said, “I am heartily thankful to Sanatani Ganga Foundation for appointing me as the brand ambassador of this noble mission. The river Ganges is considered sacred in Hinduism, and the cultural practices and beliefs have been associated with it.
