During Covid shutdown, Papi became famous for his TikTok skits. His nickname is a play on SaltBae, and on his page, he frequently posted budget versions imitations of the video of the steak salesman.

He imitated the Turkish chef’s well-known method of pouring salt from above his shoulder when exploring British eateries, but with a twist. With the help of the videos, he was able to gradually increase his social media fan base until he reached over 4.2 million TikTok followers and 125.8 million total likes across all of his videos.

Papi is believed to be around five feet and eight inches tall and Salt Papi has fought the majority of his career at 180 pounds, having lost over 20 pounds since his March 2022 debut.

When he faced Hamad Khan in March 2022, his life underwent a significant turn. Papi lost a staggering 165 pounds thanks to boxing, which gradually became his love. At the O2 Arena, Salt Papi eliminated debutant Warski in just 15 seconds.

Logan Paul, a fellow social media celebrity, noticed this and tweeted, “Salt Papi vs. Jake Paul,” shortly after Salt Papi had won. Chris Eubank Jr. also praised Salt Papi, saying: “The guy went to sleep, incredible.” Further wa said:

If you look at him, he looks like he works a nine-to-five at a cheese factory, so to see him come out there, moonwalk, dance, lick his lips and then knock a guy out, that’s box office right there.”

In January 2023, he eliminated Josh Brueckner. And contrary to what Eubank suggested, he no longer appears to be the “nine-to-five at a cheese factory.” He will, however, be aiming to redeem himself after his last outing in the ring, where he was defeated by Anthony Taylor, a professional boxer who had previously faced Tommy Fury.

As a result of his significant success in the YouTube boxing community, Papi entered the contest as a slight favourite. But Taylor’s background proved to be too much. Papi will be hoping that his improved performances the following time he steps into the ring will be a result of his slimmer physique.
