The Grand Chess Tour will host the Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz in Saint Louis, Missouri, from August 24 to 30, 2022. The format entails a double round-robin of blitz involving ten of the best grandmasters, followed by a rapid chess round-robin.

Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz Schedule, Date, Format, and Players
The Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz has been an essential part of the Grand Chess Tour since 2017 and the tournament this year is set to maintain the high standards of competitiveness and the magnificent venue that chess enthusiasts have grown to know and love. The fast-paced rapid and blitz format will undoubtedly produce a dynamic exhibition of talent and skill as players compete for a share of the $150,000 prize pool in this final rapid and blitz tournament of the tour.
Every day, the matches will start at 1:00 PM local time and last until 5:30 PM local time. The blitz event, meanwhile, will be played for the last two days of the competition. During the rapid chess, three rounds of matches will be played everyday.

Tournament Format, Rules, and Prize Money Pool
The format includes a rapid chess round-robin between the top 10 grandmasters, followed by a double round-robin of blitz. The combination of blitz and quick chess will keep spectators on their toes and make them eagerly anticipate each day’s games. Rapid chess matches will be played during the first three days of the event, while blitz chess matches will be played over the final two days.
