SAFF Women’s Championship Bangladesh vs Nepal Final Result, Score, Winner, And Other Details
Bangladesh won the SAFF Women’s Championship for the first time after defeating Nepal 3-0 thanks to a brace from Srimoti Sarkar and an early goal from Shamsunnahar. Anita Basnet’s goal gave Nepal some hope after a valiant effort, but it was too little, too late to alter the course of match. After Shamsunnahar Jr.’s first goal for Bangladesh in 14th minute, Krishna Rani scored the team’s second goal in the 42nd minute. In the 77th minute, Krishna Rani added Bangladesh’s third goal with another skillful finish and ensured Bangladesh’s victory.
In the sixth edition, Bangladesh won the title for the first time in South Asian women’s football, ending India’s run of five straight victories. Meanwhile, hosts Nepal had to deal with winning the runners-up trophy for the fifth time. Although Bangladesh had previously won women’s South Asian football competitions, this was the first time they had done it at the senior level—and they had done so by defeating the two top teams in the region, India and Nepal. Bangladesh had previously been to the final in 2016 but ultimately lost that match 1-3 to India.
Bangladesh players swept all honors after winning their first SAFF Women Championship championship, with skipper Sabina Khatun emerging as the competition’s best scorer after scoring a total of eight goals in five games. Sabina was also recognized as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after recording two hat-tricks including one against Bhutan in the semifinal.
