The SA20 league 2023 has found huge international success in its first edition and the six-team based tournament is now only left with the two final teams.
SA20 League 2023 playoffs
The SA20 league 2023 playoffs began on 8 February, Wednesday with the first semifinal between Pretoria Capitals and Paarl Royals. In the second semifinal, Joburg Super Kings went up against the Sunrisers Eastern Cape on 9 February, Thursday.
Pretoria Capitals won the first semifinal against Paarl Royals with 29 runs. Pretoria Capitals did the first batting and scored 153/8 following a half century from Rilee Rossouw who made 56 off 41 deliveries. Paarl Royals on the other hand failed to catch up and lost the match by 29 runs. The Royals got bowled after scoring 124 runs.
Meanwhile in the second semifinal match, which took place Thursday, the Joburg Super Kings lost against the Sunrisers Eastern Cape. Sunrisers Eastern Cape put out a challenge of 214 runs, which Joburg Super Kings failed to reach by 14 runs. Aiden Markram stole the spotlight with a match winning hundred and also played a captain’s knock.
Ahead of the finals, Pretoria Capitals look to be the stronger team having won 7 of their 10 matches. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Eastern Cape had a pretty average season. In fact, the team only managed to qualify for the playoffs following a better net run rate.
