Know all details about the Ryder Cup 2025 along with the teams and dates, which will pit Team Europe against Team USA
Excitement continues to grow ahead of the 45th Ryder Cup, which is set to take place at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York. Following Europe’s dominant victory in Rome in 2023, the focus now turns to Team USA, who will be aiming to reclaim the trophy on home soil. Luke Donald, who guided Europe to that win, is expected to lead the side once again, with many of the key players from Marco Simone likely to return.

The competition is scheduled from Friday, 26 September to Sunday, 28 September 2025. The morning sessions on both Friday and Saturday are expected to begin between 12 and 1 pm BST (7 to 8 am ET), while the afternoon matches could start around 5 to 6 pm BST (12 to 1 pm ET). Sunday’s singles are likely to get underway from 4 to 5 pm BST. As always, 28 points will be contested, with 14.5 needed to win the cup. Should the match end in a 14–14 tie, Europe will retain the trophy as the current holders.
The format will follow tradition: the first two days will feature sessions of foursomes (alternate shot) and fourballs (better ball), while the final day will be dedicated to singles. One point is available per match, and any ties after 18 holes will result in a half point being awarded to each team. Players participating in foursomes and fourballs will be confirmed ahead of each session, with all team members expected to compete in singles on Sunday.
Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York which will host the 2025 edition is known for its challenging layout, with narrow fairways, punishing rough, and a total length of 7,426 yards. A warning sign at the first tee advises that the course is best suited for highly skilled golfers. As the host team, the United States will determine course conditions, though with both teams featuring powerful ball strikers, any home advantage may be less pronounced.

As of 24 June, the European automatic qualifiers include Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton, Robert MacIntyre, Shane Lowry, and Sepp Straka. Donald’s potential captain’s picks could feature Ludvig Åberg, Viktor Hovland, Jon Rahm, Justin Rose, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Rasmus Højgaard. The team resembles the one that defeated the United States in Rome, though players like Nicolai Højgaard, Aaron Rai, or Matt Wallace may force their way in with strong summer performances.
Team USA’s standings are led by Scottie Scheffler, followed by Xander Schauffele, JJ Spaun, Russell Henley, Bryson DeChambeau, and Justin Thomas. Others under consideration include Collin Morikawa, Ben Griffin, Keegan Bradley, Patrick Cantlay, Sam Burns, and Jordan Spieth. Bradley, currently seen as a captaincy candidate, might even feature as a playing captain—the first since Arnold Palmer in 1963.
Coverage of the event will be available live on Sky Sports Golf and NOW TV in the UK, while NBC and Peacock are expected to broadcast it in the United States. Independent Sport will also offer full updates, including live blogs, scores, and detailed coverage from Bethpage Black. Local fans in New York will be given the chance to attend the matches with free tickets, which is expected to create a lively atmosphere.
Players are not paid for participating in the Ryder Cup, even if they play on the winning team but are compensated in a different way as The PGA of America gives each U.S. player $200,000, which they can donate to a charity of their choice.
