The Ryder Cup is a biennial tournament that takes place on European soil and in the US alternately.

The Ryder Cup had its inception in 1927, with two teams, namely Great Britain and the United States. However, following the World War II era, the United States team continued to dominate the competition. As a result, Great Britain expanded and brought in continental European golfers in 1979. This led to the formation of Team Europe.

The Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Guidonia Montecelio, Rome, will be the venue for the Ryder Cup 2023.

The upcoming competition will feature two teams and a list of star players:
Team Europe
Team Europe comprises of Jon Rahmm who secured his spot in the champion of the Masters Tournament in August 2023, alongside gold legend Rory McIlroy. Viktor Hovland, Tyrrell Hatton and Matt Fitzpatrick will also join them in the team. Meanwhile, team captain Luke Donald announced his six captain’s picks on September 4. The team comprises of Tommy Fleetwood, Sepp Straka, Justin Rose, Shane Lowry, Nicolai Hojgaard and Ludvig Aberg.
Team USA
Team USA comprises of world number one Scottie Scheffler, as well as reigning US Open champion Wyndham Clark. Other members include Brian Harman, Patrick Cantlay, Max Homa and Xander Schauffele. Aside from them, team captain Zach Johnson announced his six captain’s picks back in August 2023. The six players include Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth, Collin Morikawa, Sam Burns, Rickie Fowler and Justin Thomas.
Ryder Cup 2023 dates
The highly anticipated competition will begin on Friday, September 29 in Rome, Italy and conclude on Sunday, October 1.
