The Ryder Cup has finally arrived as the tournament was delayed for more than one year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The teams from the USA and Europe are all set to fight for the trophy. Moreover, the European team has won the last five of the six tournaments. But this time, Team USA have stepped their feet with a strong side and they are the favourites to win the trophy.

The Ryder Cup follows a unique way of distributing the prize money amount. Also, the team selection is done in a different way and not all players are qualified. So, here are all the details about Ryder Cup 2021, including the teams and prize money.

Prize Money

The prize money follows a different tradition at the Ryder Cup. Furthermore, no players receive the prize money directly. Instead, the captains of the respective teams provide goods and other gifts to the players which are not financed by the Ryder Cup pool.

It was started by Tony Jacklin when he lead the European team that visited America back in 1983. Here is a breakdown of amount:

USA: The PGA Tour splits the profits in a 5:1 ratio when the tournament is hosted in America. This year the tournament will be played at Whistling Straits Golf Course in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin meaning the USA will follow this process.

Each player is awarded an amount of $200,000 which they didn’t receive directly. The money is donated in the form of charity.

Europe: European Tour receives 60% of the money when the tournament is hosted in any European country. Furthermore, the money is not distributed among the players. Instead, players receive gifts and goods from their respective captains.
