Rugby Premier League (RPL) 2025

The RPL was founded in 2024 and has its headquarters in Mumbai. Rugby India governs the RPL with support from GMR Sports, and it is the first league of its kind. The competition offers a high-octane and fast-paced version of rugby – the sevens rugby. The inaugural season runs from June 1 to June 15, 2025, hosted entirely at the Mumbai Football Arena.

RPL 2025 Format

The RPL 2025 season will follow a double round-robin format followed by knockout rounds. It will take place over 15 days, featuring 34 matches in the group stages and 4 in the playoffs. Each match will consist of four 4-minute quarters and 2-minute breaks, making every game last about 22 minutes.

RPL 2025 Draft

Each of the six teams will field a 13-member squad, made up of the following players:

• 5 marquee international players from top-tier rugby nations
• 3 bridge players from emerging rugby nations like Hong Kong, Germany, and Canada
• 5 Indian players selected from a pool of 71 domestic talents

All of the teams will have a full staff including a head coach, an Indian assistant coach, a physiotherapist, a massage therapist, and a team manager.
