While sharing about the news of his visit, Ronaldinho shared how he would love to meet Sourav Ganguly, aka Dada. He also joked about how he would love to learn how to play some cricket from the former Indian skipper.
Ronaldinho India visit date and venue
According to reports, Ronaldinho will reportedly visit India in the second week of October in Kolkata. Satadru Dutta who has set up many visits from renowned football figures like Maradona, Pele, Cafu, and others to Kolkata in the past is currently in talks with Assis for the visit. Assis, or Roberto de Assis Moreira, is Ronaldinho’s brother and manager as well as his agent.
According to Dutta, the talks are in the final stages and the final dates are all that remains. Dutta revealed how he wants to bring him on the 16th, 17th and 18th. However, Ronaldinho also has some professional commitments and needs to set out all the small details. Dutta however, reassured that the football icon can arrive before the Durga Puja festivities begin in Kolkata.
Dutta also recently orchestrated the visit of Emiliano Martinez in Kolkata, back in July this year. Martinez is the reigning FIFA Golden Glove winner and a part of the team that won the FIFA World Cup.
Ronaldinho Kolkata visit schedule
Ronaldinho’s visit to Kolkata is packed with exciting activities, starting off with a visit to the iconic Mohun Bagan and East Bengal football grounds and a 30-minute football session. The Brazilian icon will then head on to play a charity football match at the Diamond Harbour FC ground.
Aside from that, Ronaldinho will also visit the Narendrapur Green Park Durga Puja pandal. The park will be themed after the FIFA World Cup final venue – the famous Lusail Stadium in Qatar. Interestingly, the venue has an 80-foot statue dedicated to Argentine football legend, Lionel Messi. Besides those places, the footballer also shared that he would visit the Shree Bhumi Sporting, Ahirtola Yuvak Brindo, Baruipur, Green Park & Rishra through a Facebook post.
Ronaldinho talks about his India visit
Ahead of his visit, Ronaldinho shared the following on a Facebook post:
“Hello Everybody, I will be doing my maiden trip to Kolkata this mid October and will participate in many charitable activities including visiting my R10 Football academy where I will interact with kids at Merlin Rise. Will also see the many cultural aspects and be part of the Durga Puja Festivities by visiting Shree Bhumi Sporting, Ahirtola Yuvak Brindo, Baruipur, Green Park & Rishra.”
He also added that he will also be part of a Charity football match and visit Diamond Harbour FC ground. Ronaldinho will also interact with sponsors and attend felicitation programs for promoting fotball. The football icon shared how he knows about Kolkata’s huge Brazil fanbase and shared his excitement to visit them.
He also shared how he it would be a huge honour to meet the Honourable Chief Minister of West Bengal and also gift her with a jersey. Ronaldinho also took time to mention about the popularity of Cricket and said he would learn cricket from Bengals “ Dada”.
In the announcement, he also thanked all the sponsors involved with his R10 football academy and thanked Satadru for taking the initiative to take him around the Kolkata.
