He died from injuries he sustained in a car accident he faced three days ago in Lynwood.

Daughter Cha-a Pays Tribute To His Father On A Social Media Post

The news was announced by his daughter by her social media account that read, “Roger E. Mosley, my father, your friend, your ‘coach Mosley’ your ‘TC’ from magnum P.I., passed away at 1:17 am. He was surrounded by family as he transcended peacefully. We could never mourn such an amazing man. He would hate any crying done in his name.” 

She added, “It is time to honor the legacy he has left for all of us. I cherish you, Daddy. You also adored me. Although my heart is heavy, I am strong. Your almost 60-year love, mama, will be taken care of by me. She is in wonderful hands, thanks to the way you raised me. Rest easy.”

Three days after being hurt in an automobile accident in Lynwood, California, Mosley passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was in severe condition after the accident, which had left him paralyzed from the shoulders down.

In the 1973 action movie picture Terminal Film, which also starred Phyllis Davis, Don Marshall, Ena Hartman, and Tom Selleck, he made his acting debut as a monk. The next year, he founded the Watts Repertory Company.

As the primary actor in the 1976 movie Leadbelly, Roger E. Mosley rose to fame by taking on the character of American folk and blues singer and composer Huddie “Lead Belly” Ledbetter. Then, from 1980 to 1988, he appeared in Magnum, P.I. He also played A.J. Cooper’s pal in the fifth season of the NBC comedy-drama Las Vegas. 

In March 2019, he then made an appearance in an episode of the new Magnum, P.I. He kept appearing in other episodes as a guest star, including Night Court, Starsky & Hutch, The Rockford Files, Sanford, and Son, and others.
