Who Is Roger Binny?

His full name is Roger Michael Humphrey Binny. He was born on 19 July 1955 in Bangalore. He is of Scottish origin and has become the first Anglo origin to play cricket for India.

He did his schooling at St. Germain’s Academy in Bangalore, St. Joseph’s Indian High School PU College in Bangalore, and Montfort School in Tamil Nadu.

He was married to Cynthia. They both had three children together. Their son Stuart Binny is also an Indian cricketer who has been married to a sports journalist named Mayanti Langer. Their daughters’ names are Laura and Lisa.

Presently, he is 67 years old.

His Career

Roger Binny made his ODI debut on December 6, 1980, against Australia at Melbourne Cricket Ground. He made his test debut on November 21, 1979, against Pakistan at Bangalore’s Chinnaswamy Stadium. He didn’t play T20 matches in his career as there were no T20 matches at that time.

On October 9th, 1987, he took retirement from international cricket. Apart from this, he also played domestic cricket for Goa and Karnataka.

He is regarded as an all-around cricket player who is most remembered for his excellent bowling performance in the 1983 Cricket World Cup when he took the most wickets (18).
