Robin Lehner and his wife, Donya declared bankruptcy on December 30, months after a Wisconsin firm sued Lehner for $4 million, alleging that the NHL star and his father had not repaid a loan for their company last year.
According to reports, the veteran goalkeeper’s 2017 acquisition of an exotic snake farm is what caused the bankruptcy. That year, Robin had paid Ben Renick $1.2 million for a collection of rare snakes.
However, Ben was murdered by his wife and her ex-boyfriend two years later. According to reports, Robin placed a $200,000 down payment. However, he ceased making payments, following Ben’s passing.
The Vegas Golden Knights, Black Knight Sports & Entertainment, Newport Sports Management, and the banking institution Sure Sports Lending have all been named as prospective interested parties in the bankruptcy petition, along with the National Hockey League.
