Lil Wayne recently paid respect to ex-police officer Robert Hoobler, whom he referred to as Uncle Bob, know his death reason, age and net worth
Hoobler died on July 24th, at the age of 65. On Instagram, Wayne posted a photo of Hoobler with an emotional remark. The cop is said to have passed away due to age related ailments and an illness.

On Friday, the body of a former New Orleans police officer who saved rapper Lil Wayne’s life in 1994 was discovered in his Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, home.

Although no cause of death has been given, a friend of Hoobler told the local paper NOLA that the former officer had been dealing with health issues after his legs were amputated in a car accident.
Lil Wayne referred to Hoobler as “Uncle Bob” after he saved his life after a suicide attempt. Wayne, then known as Dwayne Carter Jr., shot himself in the chest when he was 12 years old while he was alone at home.
Wayne revealed in a 2021 interview that he struggled with mental health issues and suicidal thoughts when he was young.
How Did Uncle Bob Save Lil Wayne?
On November 11, 1994, Lil Wayne was 12 years old when he discovered a 9mm pistol in one of his family’s apartment bedrooms, picked it up, and fired a bullet into his chest. He miraculously managed to dial 911 and crawl to the front door, where he was bleeding and waiting for help.
Hoobler was on his way to an off-duty security detail when he heard the dispatcher report that a young boy had self-inflicted a gunshot wound and required medical attention.
When the veteran officer arrived, he heard Wayne’s faint cries for help coming from inside the apartment. Then Hoobler kicked in the door and discovered him on the ground in a bloodied T-shirt and jeans. Hoobler requested an ambulance, but none were available right away, so he picked up Wayne and drove him to the hospital in his own police cruiser and saved the famous rapper’s life.
Lil Wayne Paid Tribute To Uncle Bob
Lil Wayne called his life saver as Uncle Bob. When the news of the policeman’s death came out, Lil Wayne shared a picture of two on his Instagram account with a heartwarming caption.
The rapper wrote, “Everything happens for a reason. I was dying when I met u at this very spot. U refused to let me die. Everything that doesn’t happen, doesn’t happen for a reason. That reason being you and faith. RIP uncle Bob. Aunt Kathie been waiting for u. I’ll love & miss u both and live for us all.”
While the 65 year old cop’s net worth isn’t known, Lil Wayne has a net worth of $170 million.
