The 2nd edition of the Road Safety World Series kicked off on Saturday. The first match of the tournament took place between India Legends and South Africa Legends at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

The defending champion side led by Sachin Tendulkar defeated South Africa Legends by 61 runs. Batting first, India Legends put 217 runs on the board. Stuart Binny was the highest run gatherer for the team and played an unbeaten knock of 82 runs off 42 balls.

Yusuf Pathan performed perfectly as a perfect finisher as he often did during his playing days. He scored 35 off 15 balls and built a brilliant 88 runs partnership with Stuart Binny. Suresh Raina also played well and contributed 33 runs in 22 balls while Naman Ojha and Sachin Tendulkar set off well with a 46-run partnership.
During the chase, South African Legends struggled and continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. Rahul Sharma bowled brilliantly and picked up three wickets while Pragyan Ojha and Munaf Patel picked up 2 wickets each. India Legend bowlers held South Africa Legends to 156/9 in twenty overs.

The tournament is under way for its second season. The 22-day event will be held in the cities of Kanpur, Indore, Dehradun and Raipur. The tournament will feature a total of eight teams. New Zealand Legends is the new edition of the team in the tournament while Australia who missed stage two of season one is also back in the tournament. India Legends is the current championship winner and it will be interesting to see how much they can do this time.
