On Thursday, the South Zone clinched the Deodhar Trophy title for the ninth time by defeating the East Zone with a commanding 45-run win in the final, know the stats and runs of Riyan Parag in 2023

The final match was played at the Cricket Association Puducherry Siechem Ground in Puducherry.

South Zone scored a massive 328 after deciding to bat first, thanks in large part to Rohan Kunnummal’s outstanding century (107 off 75 balls). Despite taking a total of eight wickets, the East Zone bowlers had trouble controlling the scoring rate.

In response, East Zone batters were unable to form alliances. Riyan Parag scored an outstanding 95 off 65 balls. However, it wasn’t enough, as they were dismissed for 283 and lost the match by 45 runs. With this, the South Zone won the 2023 Deodhar Trophy.

The List Of Most Runs At The Deodhar Trophy

The East Zone’s Riyan Parag finished with the most runs scored in the Deodhar Trophy 2023. Parag put in a fantastic effort while batting at number six while attempting to chase down 329 for South Zone. He scored 95 runs off of 65 balls by hitting eight boundaries and five sixes. In five games, he added 354 runs to his total and hit for an average of 88.50.

He was the highest run-getter, highest six-hitter, joint third-highest wicket taker and Player of the Tournament and two of his five List A hundreds came this season.

Parag’s first century of the tournament was a 102-ball 131 against North as he put together a 235-run stand with Jharkhand wicketkeeper Kumar Kushagra. Then came his 68-ball 102 not out in a 150-run stand with Kushagra decimated West Zone in a must-win game.

Mayank Agarwal, the captain of the South Zone, played excellent baseball in the championship. He gave his team a strong start and opened the batting with a calm 63-run inning. With 341 runs in six games, Agarwal completed the competition behind Parag in the list of players with the most runs.

South Zone’s Rohan Kunnummal shone in the Deodhar Trophy final with his bat brilliance. He quickly reached his century after hitting the East Zone bowlers all around the pitch when opening the batting. After only 75 balls, he was out for 107 after hitting 11 fours and four maximums. With 311 runs scored in six games, he concludes the Deodhar Trophy 2023 as the third-highest run-scorer.

Most Wickets List for the Deodhar Trophy in 2023

South Zone’s Vidwath Kaverappa competed admirably with the ball. In the Deodhar Trophy 2023, he took 13 wickets at an average of 14.53 and a strike rate of 18.53.

The right-arm bowler helped his team win the championship by taking two wickets and allowing 61 runs in 9.1 overs. He ended with the most wickets in the competition.

The second-highest wicket-taker overall for the Deodhar Trophy was West Zone’s Shams Mulani. The spinner’s outstanding average of 16.25 saw him take 12 wickets in five games. He had excellent ball control and bowled with an economy of 3.90.

With 12 wickets in the Deodhar Trophy, Mayank Yadav of the North Zone finished second to Mulani in terms of most wickets. Yadav had a 17.58 bowling average and a 20.33 strike rate. He ended as the North Zone’s top wicket-taker and added a four-for to his tournament totals.
