Innocent worked in Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and English movies, mostly in comedy roles.
In a career spanning more than 50 years, Innocent acted in more than 750 films and he was regarded as one of the best comedians of Malayalam cinema. He also appeared in some negative roles, such as in Mazhavilkavadi, and Ponmuttayidunna Tharavu.

Innocent received a number of awards including three Kerala State Film Awards. Innocent also served as the Member of Parliament in the 16th Lok Sabha of India, presenting Chalakudy constituency. Innocent was born on the 28th of February 1948 and he passed away on the 26th of March 2023. His treatment for cancer was going on and he also had respiratory issues.
A medical bulletin issued by the hospital said Innocent was admitted there on March 3 due to respiratory ailments following Covid infection and that he had been shifted to the ICU after a respiratory infection and he died due to these ailments, multi-organ failure and heart attack, it added.
Innocent’s family and education
Innocent is the fifth child and third son of his parents. Innocent left Davangere and set up his leather business, then a cycle renting business for making a living. He was married to Alice and is survived by his son Sonet. Innocent was 5ft 5in tall and his weight was 70 kg.
Innocent tied the knot with Alice in 1976 and they had Sonnet Parppidam, their son.
Growing up hard, Innocent had some conflicts with his father, who was Vareed because his brothers continued to have excellent education. Later on, he joined politics and became the Municipal councilor of Irinjalakuda. He attended Don Bosco School and Little Flower Convent School.

Innocent career and films
Innocent’s dictation was quite unique in Malayalam and caught the attention of the audiences as well, this made him an amazing actor for Malayalam comedy scenes.
Innocent entered the film industry in early 1972 with the film Nrityashala. Initially, he produced some serious offbeat movies, but he was not much successful. In the long span of his career, he has acted in numerous Tamil and Hindi movies.
2020 was the only year when he didn’t appear in any movie because of his Cancer treatment. Paachuvum Athbhuthavilakkum is Inncoent’s last movie, before his death.
Innocent was the secretory of the Thrissur Revolutionary Socialist Party during the 1970s. Innocent competed in Irinjalakkuda municipal council elections as the Revolutionary Socialist, Party-backed candidate in 1979 and he won that election.
Innocent was rumored to be a Left Democratic Front (LDF)-supported independent candidate from the Irinjalakkuda assembly constituency in the 2006 Kerala Legislative Assembly elections but this did not happen.
