Owing to his status as one of the best boxers around the world, Ray Vargas will receive approximately $500,000 payout despite losing the fight. Meanwhile, his opponent O’Shaquie Foster will be entitled for $275,000 purse. Although this fight isn’t confirmed to be featured through PPV, sources have reported PPV split between the fighters.

In a fight that took place at the Alamodome in San Antonio on Saturday night, Mexican Rey Vargas was defeated by American O’Shaquie Foster by unanimous decision. According to the scorecards, Foster won with scores of 116–112, 117–111, & 119–109. Following his resounding unanimous decision win, Foster has been crowned as the WBC super featherweight champion and improved his professional boxing record to 20-2 including 11 KO wins. Meanwhile, Vargas has suffered the first defeat in 36 matches of his illustrious boxing career.

With a straight left hand from the opening round that his opponent avoided because to his speed and deft footwork, Vargas established distance. Vargas slipped and fell to the ground in the second round as the Texas native demonstrated his ability to get in, hit, and get out. In the third round, Vargas used arcing punches to injure Foster’s body. From the fourth round on, the American won by relying on his mobility and demonstrated particular strength in the fifth round with a series of left uppercuts.

The American continued to dominate throughout the sixth round as his blows caused his opponent’s right cheekbone to turn red. Desperate, Vargas attempted with lost-in-the-air flies and right hooks in the seventh and eighth innings, really struggling. Vargas boldly searched for a strike that would make Foster flinch despite the swelling in both of his eyes, but his desperation was heightened by the many misses of his punches. Foster demonstrated his excellent physical condition and cunning to adapt the fight to his style as it entered the tenth round.

Vargas entered the ring in the eleventh round intending to knock out Foster because he was trailing on the scorecards. However, Foster did not back down and retaliated with a powerful left hook that caused the Mexican to back away. The American prevailed in the decider against a physically weakened Rey Vargas, capping a spectacular performance that carried him to victory.
