Rev Yankey Patton was born in a village named Raman on the 15th of March in the year 1927. His wife left the world back in the year 2014. Rev is having one son named Nchumbemo Patton. He is along having 3 great-grandchildren and 7 grandchildren.
Rev Yankey has been an important part of Nagaland as he has served for 15 years from 1989 to 2004 as a state Chaplain. Also, he has been a police Chaplain from 1987 to 1988. He was appointed as the First Chaplain after the establishment of the new federal state.
The funeral service of late Rev. Patton was held on Sunday (January 30) at 9 a.m. at Lotha Baptist Church, Diphupar after which his body was taken to his native village, Raman for burial.
When Rev started serving no special facilities were given to him but he always managed to walk through the roads with his umbrella in his hand. Patton believed in Church a lot and that’s the reason behind his spiritual leadership.
Rev has also served as a pastor from 1960 to 1975 at the Wokha Town Baptist Church.
Rev Yankey Patton’s Death Reason
Rev Yankey Patton took his last breath at his residence which is in Diphupar, Dimapur on 28th January 2022. He was 98 years old and was suffering from numerous age-related ailments. His demise has left all his well-wishers in grief.
CM Neiphiu along with Deputy CM Y Patton expressed sorrow at the passing of Patton. Also, they added that Rev was the most well-known and respected pastor in Nagaland. They mentioned that nobody can fill the void which is created by Patton’s death. His last rites will be carried out in Raman which is his birth place.
