A report claiming Queen Elizabeth wanted signed shirts of Cristiano Ronaldo was picked up by a raft of leading outlets
We live in a world where just about anything sells as long as it sounds credible and gains traction. In a world where fake news is circulated unabated, people hardly try to find the actual veracity of a report.
A perfect testament to this narrative is the recent claims of England’s Queen Elizabeth requesting Manchester United for signed shirts of Cristiano Ronaldo. The report was emanated from Sports Innovation Society, a verified platform on Twitter which went onto talk about how Queen Elizabeth II had asked for the first jersey signed by Ronaldo along with ordering 80 pieces in total.

The news needed little time in going viral with a slew of leading portals and football accounts related to Manchester United way too willing to spread the claims. And given the nature of the outlandish claims, it took little time in the news spreading all over the internet.
However, Sports Innovation Society soon after went onto delete the tweet with them revealing that the news was false, one they had not bothered to verify before sending out the tweet.

Ronaldo meanwhile had an eventful night against Ireland as he scored twice in the FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifier to fire his side to a 2-1 win. The Portuguese also went onto edge past Ali Daei in the process with his 111 goals making him the bearer of the record for the most international goals in football.
He also managed to avoid punishment for slapping Dara O’Shea during the matchup.
