Late on Thursday, Lalit Modi shocked the internet by declaring his relationship with Bollywood actor and former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen. Lalit posted on social media, saying, “Just back in london after a whirling global tour #maldives # sardinia with the families – not to mention my #betterhalf @sushmitasen47 – a new beginning a new life finally. Over the moon.”

People assumed that the two were already married at the time he wrote that. The former IPL chairman, however, underlined that although they are only now dating, a marriage is unquestionably in the works. Later, he tweeted: “Just for clarity. Minal and Lalit previously wed. On October 17, 1991, the pair wed in Mumbai. Due to cancer, Minal passed away in December 2018. On the occasion of his wedding anniversary in 2020, Lalit posted this collage with the comment, “It was exactly 30 years ago that we got married- missing her more than anything. life has completely turned upside down since she passed away. All i have is our beautiful memories R.I.P #minalmodi Love you forever.”
