As a consequence of this injury, Reece James may miss England’s World Cup campaign in Qatar in 2022, which would be a big setback for the three lions and Gareth Southgate, who has started James in England’s previous four games. Reece James has been a crucial player for Chelsea this season, scoring twice and providing two assists in 11 games.
Graham Potter Provided An Update On Reece James’ Injury
Last week, Reece James was forced to be replaced in the 62nd minute of Chelsea’s Champions League match against AC Milan. While making the challenge, he injured his knee on the turf. The injury first appears to be less concerning, but Reece James received a scan on Thursday which revealed he had suffered ligament damage, meaning he would likely be sidelined for six to eight weeks. Graham Potter discussed James’ injury and confirmed he will visit a specialist.
“There’s no point thinking into doomsday scenarios right now,” he remarked.
“We need to double-check before proceeding. Reece is scheduled to visit a specialist over the weekend, so there isn’t much more I can say until we have that information,” he added. We need to investigate the pain and consult with a doctor. He didn’t feel too ill yesterday, but we won’t know until you get these things tested.”
The World Cup is quickly approaching, and injuries have caused Gareth Southgate enormous stress and fear. England is one of the favorites to win the World Cup this time around, but three important players, including Kyle Walker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Reece James, have already picked up injuries ahead of the Qatar World Cup 2022.
