Netflix has recently announced the renewal of its remake of the Spanish-language Mexican teen drama musical “Rebelde,” know the release date of season 2 episode 1 and the cast
Season two of the show will come to our screens later this month, from July 28th. The first season aired on Netflix earlier this year on January 5th.
Rebelde Netflix Season 2 Confirmed, Episode 1 Release Date, Cast
Rebelde first hit the screens back in 2004 and continued till 2006, ruling over the hearts of teens and tweens with over 440 episodes. The story followed the lives of six freshmen students of Elite Way School, who, despite having different personalities and coming from different economic backgrounds, are brought together by their love of music and form a band. Like every classic teen drama, the story also features an antagonist group of rich kids, La Logia (The Lodge), who are constantly attempting to eliminate scholarship students.
Despite being marketed as a reboot, Netflix’s Rebelde is actually a follow-up series.
Just like the Gossip Girl reboot, Rebelde too, instead of recreating the characters of Mia (Anahí), Roberta (Dulce Maria), Lupita (Maite Perroni), Miguel (Alfonso “Poncho” Herrera), Diego (Christopher von Uckermann), and Giovanni (Christian Chavez) the show begins with a new session, with new and unique characters that are more relatable to Gen Z.
Cast of Rebelde 2022
The 2022 version quickly became popular and gained a viewership of 33 million hours in the first week. The cast of Rebelde 2022 also stars six lead characters, i.e., Lizethe Lezene as Andi, Jerónimo Cantillo as Dixon, Andrea Chaparro as MJ, Franco Masini as Luka, Sergio Mayer Mori as Esteban and Azul Guaita as Jana. We also had actors like Alejandro Puente, Giovanna Grigio and Estefanía Villarreal playing the roles of Sebastián, Emília and Director Celina Ferrer.
The cast will be joined by social media influencer and Youtuber Figueroa aka Saak as a new student at Elite Way School, Okane.
The show received mixed reviews over the period while ending on a cliffhanger. The upcoming season will address all the unanswered questions from the first season. Viewers will find out if Luka returns to the Elite Way School and if MJ becomes a pop star.
However, the 2004 version of the show is no longer available. The reboot version is currently streaming on Netflix and is perfect for a binge-watch!
