Sasha Banks ended up missing out on WWE SummerSlam 2021 altogether with Becky Lynch going onto squash Bianca Belair
Ahead of the now bygone WWE SummerSlam 2021, one showdown which was eagerly awaited by ardent viewers of the competition was Bianca Belair vs Sasha Banks. This was a brawl which was one of the headliners of WWE’s biggest PPV event of the year, a clash set to see the fireworks explode come Saturday night.
However, in the build up to SummerSlam, Sasha was withdrawn from the house shows she was envisaged to make a foray in along with her missing WWE Smackdown altogether. Whilst Belair had appeared on the last episode of SmackDown as she defeated Carmella and Zelina Vega Banks was out of action.
However, with WWE refusing to provide any update regarding Banks, it was envisaged that her feud with Belair would go ahead at SummerSlam as planned. The two had ended up setting the stage alight when they had locked heads at WrestleMania 37 with Belair getting the better of Banks.
Reason Behind Sasha Banks Missing From SummerSlam 2021
However, till the starting moments of SummerSlam, WWE failed to provide any clarification of the slated Banks vs Belair matchup with Sean Ross Sapp having to take to Twitter to reveal that Banks wasn’t present at the event. Subsequently, Becky Lynch was asked to step up as she took on Belair in a lopsided affair, one which saw Belair being squashed in scanty minutes.
While there’s still no update on why Banks missed SummerSlam, its being touted that she’s down with a bout of COVID. Her being injured is also a likelihood but WWE usually informs about these setbacks well beforehand, something the company hasn’t done till now.
