Raul was the interim manager of Real Madrid Castilla, the Spanish club’s reserves, in 2019. He is presently the interim manager of Real Madrid U19. The former Spanish forward, who spent 16 years with Real Madrid in his senior career and amassed 550 appearances and an astounding 228 goals, is well-known throughout the nation’s capital.
Raul, who has remained with Real Madrid since his retirement in 2015, is an obvious choice to succeed Carlo Ancelotti.
The next applicant on the list is Xabi Alonso, whose hire would be unexpected given his past association with Bayer Leverkusen but whose ability as a player and understanding would surely benefit the club. After being fired from Bayern Munich, the highly regarded Julian Nagelsmann is next at 9/2, just ahead of Zinedine Zidane. Zidane had two successful tenures as manager of Real Madrid, winning three consecutive Champions Leagues and two La Liga championships.
