Saturday night in the world of football was one which left everyone rankled. What started as an ordinary Euro 2020 group stage outing between Denmark and Finland soon turned into a horrid medical calamity.

Christian Eriksen Collapsed During Denmark vs Finland

The incident in question involved Denmark’s Christian Eriksen. The Inter Milan man ended up being rendered motionless as he collapsed to the ground in the 42nd minute of the matchup after going to receive the ball from a Danish corner.

While he managed to regain consciousness as he was stretched away from the pitch, everyone was left sweating over his health. While UEFA and Denmark were quick to assert that Eriksen was since recovering steadily in the hospital, there’s still no official update on what lead to things taking a turn for the worse.

And while the match was suspended for a short while owing to the incident, the spectators refused to quite down. Both Filmland and Denmark’s supporters stood as one in Copenhagen as they boisterously sang Christian Eriksen’s name.

A string of wishes flew in from India as well with Indian Premier League, Royal Challengers Bangalore among the first to wish Eriksen recovered soon. RCB joined the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba and Arsenal amongst others to wish Eriksen was soon back on his foot.

UEFA Resume Denmark vs Finland

Despite the unsavoury incident, UEFA clearly hasn’t learned its lesson. The governing council decided it was best to go ahead with the match after things had quietened down despite the tedium which the Danish players found themselves in.

Its only a matter of time before a player’s health massively takes a wayward spiral given the unrelenting brand of football being partaken in these days.
