Shoaib Akhtar had stated that this will be the first international film about a Pakistani sportsman when he posted a 25-second motion poster of the upcoming movie based on his life on Twitter. Muhhammad Faraz Qaiser is the film’s director.

On Sunday, July 24, former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar announced the release of his biopic, “Rawalpindi Express: Running Against the Odds.” On his official social media page, the pacer posted a motion picture for the upcoming movie, which is scheduled to hit theatres on November 16, 2023.
Tweeted Akhtar: “The start of this lovely journey. “RAWALPINDI EXPRESS: Running against the Odds,” my tale, my life, and my biopic, has been launched. You’re in for a ride you’ve never taken before. This is the first movie made abroad about a sportsman from Pakistan.”
He concluded with a note, “Controversially yours, Shoaib Akhtar.”
The cricketer previously indicated his desire for Bollywood actor Salman Khan to play his part in the film, but singer-actor Umair Jaswal will be playing the Akhtar in the film.

With a peak speed of 161.3 km/h, Akhtar holds the record for the fastest delivery in international cricket (100.23 mph). At the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2003, he threw this delivery. In 214 games in all international cricket formats, the 46-year-old bowler has taken 444 wickets.
Akhtar represented Pakistan in 46 Tests, 163 ODIs, and 15 T20Is and took 178 wickets in the longest format of the game. He also bagged 247 in the 50-over format to go with 19 T20I wickets. With amazing stats and a faster bowler title, he bowled the fastest delivery in international cricket. In 2003, he recorded 161.3 kph against England during a World Cup game.
The Latest Twist
With clashes with makers, Akhtar announced yesterday that he will be pulling out of the biopic. The 47-year-old explained that although he sincerely wanted to do it, the film crew’s contractual infractions and certain conflicts forced him to break the deal. Akhtar further stated that he would pursue legal action if the movie’s creators persisted with the project and used his name or incidents from his life narrative in any way.
