On Wednesday, online influencer and rapper Lil Tay’s family released an official statement about her and her brother’s deaths.
The statement was posted to Tay’s Instagram account. The official statement read, “It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of our beloved Claire’s sudden and tragic passing. The unfathomable grief and awful pain are beyond words to describe. We are all in disbelief at this conclusion, which was completely unexpected. The loss of her sibling deepens our pain to an indescribable degree.”
The statement also requested “privacy” during this difficult time. The death of Claire and her brother “are both still under investigation.
The exact cause of death is unconfirmed, but a post by Kayla Nicole Jones suggested suicide after they died suddently.

The controversy surrounding her back-and-forth exchange with YouTube star RiceGum that year. Later, Bhad Bhabie and Woah Vicky were added to Tay’s online saga.
In 2018, she participated in a Good Morning America interview. At the time, Tay responded to speculation that family members compelled her to create viral content. She called herself “the youngest flexer”, referring to herself as the owner of her own Instagram account.
On YouTube, Lil Tay had more than 220,000 subscribers, and her videos received millions of views. The views on her most recent videos were 1.6 million and 2.6 million.
Internet celebrity Woah Vicky paid tribute to Lil Tay on her Instagram. She posted a picture of the two together and said, “RIP Lil Tay.”
Tay’s parents were unconcerned by the fact that their daughter frequently posted on social media, talked about money, and used foul language. In an interview with Good Morning America, Tay’s mother said that she would let her follow her ambitions and would support anything her daughter chose to do.
