Following his passing, numerous individuals took to the internet to express their condolences and pay tribute to the prankster. He is acknowledged as one of the original Chicago content creators who skyrocketed to online stardom with the viral “Put Em’ in a Coffin” prank.
Who was Vonmar?
Vonmar, a member of the Chicago rap group Thot Boyz, hailed from the city and gained notoriety for his attempt to emulate the stunts of the “Jackass” stars. He went viral for his “Put Em’ in a Coffin” prank.
The “Put Em’ In a Coffin” prank showcased various Vine videos wherein participants threw themselves onto the approaching car’s flat surface or a crowded table, arms outstretched, before falling and posing as if they were lying in a coffin.

The Vine video went viral in 2014, garnering over 2.9 million views, 62,300 likes, and 62,000 shares. This trend prompted people to replicate the stunt online, using hashtags such as #PutEmInACoffin and #PutEmInTheCoffin. In 2015, Vonmar was arrested for the “Put ‘Em in a Coffin” prank.
As Vonmar continued to gain popularity by documenting his antics online, his stunts led to legal issues in 2015 when he was arrested and charged for performing the “Put Em’ in a Coffin” prank at a 7-Eleven.
Vonmar’s Arrest
On New Year’s Day in 2015, Vonmar and another man entered the 7-Eleven at 45 E. Chicago Ave. They both leapt backward onto a merchandise rack, with Vonmar filming the incident. He can be seen telling the clerk, “He fell, bro,” before executing the same stunt.
The duo proceeded to ransack the store while shouting the catchphrase “PutEmInACoffin.” The clerk called the police, and the pair left the store with a large coffee urn, which they later abandoned in a building.
In a Vine video about the 7-Eleven incident, Vonmar wrote, “WRECKIN 711 LMFAO,” which garnered 875,000 views on the social media platform and 2.2 million on Facebook. The prankster was subsequently arrested, pleaded guilty to felony theft, and was sentenced to two years of probation and 60 days in county jail.
Upon hearing the news of his passing, people online commemorated the social media sensation, recalling his viral pranks.
