Rapper Badshah insults Lord Shiva in Sanak song lyrics

Indian rapper Badshah has apologised for the words in his new song “Sanak,” which have been criticised as he insulted Lord Shiv in the lyrics

The song, which has already gotten over 22 million views on digital platforms, has been attacked for using Lord Shiva’s name along with bad words.

Badshah was criticised by a top priest at the Mahakaleshwar Temple in the Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh for using the name of Lord Shiva (Bholenath) in the song.

The priest Mahesh asked him to apologise and take the name of God out of the song. He added that he would ask for a FIR to be filed against the rapper. Also Badshah apologised to his fans on Instagram after hearing the complaints.

He wrote, “It has been brought to my attention that one of my recent releases, Sanak, sadly seems to have hurt the sentiments of some people. I would never willingly or unknowingly cause offence to anyone’s sentiments. I bring my artistic creations and musical compositions to you, my fans, with the utmost sincerity and passion.”

The rapper also said that he has changed some parts of the song and put out this new version on all digital platforms to avoid hurting anyone else. But it takes a few days for the changes to show up on all platforms because of how the process works.

“In light of this recent development, I humbly offer my sincerest apologies to those whom I may have unknowingly hurt. My fans remain my bedrock, and I shall always hold them in the highest esteem and with boundless affection,” he added.

Once again, the debate has shown how sensitive it is to use religious references in pop culture. In the past few years, there have been a number of times when people have said that celebrities hurt religious feelings. We don’t yet know how people will feel about the new version of “Sanak.” Still, many of Badshah’s friends and followers liked how quickly he responded to the criticism.
