The Hero Women’s Indian Open 2021 commences on 18 October, so here are the top ten Indian women golf players to keep an eye out for.
This year, the tournament will have the highest prize money of around ₹ 3.6 crore. Moreover, with over 120 golfers participating, the event will showcase the biggest ever lineup in the history of Indian women’s golf. Ahead of the event which will take place in Gurugram on 18th October, here are the top ten Indian women golfers to watch out for.

1. Tvesa Malik
Tvesa Malik won her first pro tournament in 2017 and is India’s number one woman golfer according to the current order of merit. Returning for the second time as a pro in the Hero Women’s Indian Open, Malik feels that gold needs to be made more accessible.
2. Gursimar Badwal
Gursimar Badwal has been on the Order of Merit every year since she turned pro in 2014. Badwal won her maiden title in 2016 and has been playing regularly on the Hero Pro Tour ever since. Belonging to Kapurthala, Punjab, she is currently fourth in the order.
3. Afshan Fatima
Jaipur’s Afshan Fatima was encouraged to take up golf by her father and gre up playing golf at the Rambagh course. The 22-year-old turned pro in 2015 and has consistently improved her rank since.
4. Amandeep Drall
Though Amandeep Drall grew up in an army family and had access to gold courses, she has been outspoken about the lack of government support in golf. The winner of 12 tournaments in the domestic circuit, Drall also won the fourth leg of the 2020 Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour.
5. Vani Kapoor
26-year-old Vani Kapoor will lead the Indian challenge at the Hero Women’s Indian Open. She finished among the top ten in the event’s 2017 edition and will certainly be looking forward to do better. Kapoor also won the fifth leg of the 2020 Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour.
6. Aditi Ashok
Aditi Ashok got her first breakthrough when she became the first Indian to win an LET Tour title at the Women’s Indian Open in 2016. She also earned an LPGA Tour card and became the first Indian on the big American tour in 2017. She will be competing in the Tokyo Olympics Women’s Individual Golf Finals.
7. Diksha Dagar
Born almost completely deaf, Diksha Dagar began her amateur career at 12 and stole the limelight at the 2015 Indian Open. She bagged a silver at the 2017 Deaflympics and then went on to represent India in both individual and team events at the 2018 Asian Games. She too will be competing in the Tokyo Olympics Golf Final on August 7.
8. Ridhima Dilawari
Eight-time winner of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour, Ridhima Dilwari was the fourth champ to qualify this year. A Columbia University graduate and former tennis player, being able to play golf and compete at the highest level is Dilawari’s goal, in addition to winning a Major.
9. Pranavi Urs
Born in 2003, Pranavi Urs is one of the amateurs to qualify the 2020 Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tourwon, finishing the second and third legs. Urs is a product of the Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club who claims to practice and play golf for 8 hours everyday.
10. Saaniya Sharma
Saaniya Sharma has been a professional golfer for over 10 years and is even a coach and referee now. She ended her title drought at the 11th leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour, and was the lone Indian to make the cut at Sanya Ladies Open in China.
