Rahul Ramesh Shewale was born to his parents Mr. Ramesh Sambhaji Shewale, who is an Indian Navy officer, and mother Mrs. Jayashri Shewale, who is an employee of the MTNL. After completing his studies in Mumbai he got married to his love of life, the fellow Shiv Sena politician and BMC corporator Kamini Mayekar (Kamini Shewale. Rahul and Kamini tied knot on the 14th of February in year 2005. Kamini Shewale is a housewife. The couple together has two sons named, Swayam and Vedant.

Rahul Ramesh Shewale being a four-time chairman of the all-powerful standing committee of BMC, has also headed the Market and Garden Committee and the Ward Committee and was also a member of the Law Committee.
He was a SS candidate from the Trombay assembly seat in year 2004 Vidhan sabha elections but lost to a Congress candidate. Rahul Shewale, then a BMC corporator from Anushakti Nagar was nominated by his party as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate from the Mumbai South Central constituency in year 2014 Indian general election.
Shewale, a Dalit leader was fielded against the sitting 2-time MP and Dalit leader Eknath Gaikwad of the Congress party, which was part of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA). Shewale got a total of 3.8 lakh votes and won by a margin of 1.38 lakh over his nearest rival Gaikwad.
