Rahul Dravid had appeared in an ad for credit card payment platform Cred during their IPL promotion campaign
Although CRED’s business plan continues to remain unknown with the company yet to record a substantial revenue, leave along profit after being in operation for a slew of years, one thing the credit card payment app has gotten right is its marketing strategy.
With their agency delivering some quirky ads over the last couple of years, CRED have been able to do visibility wise what they have floundered at financially. Coming on board with the Indian Premier League in 2020 with a fresh infusion of cash in their ranks, the company went onto rope in a string of known personalities to appear in their campaigns.
The company adopted the same approach for IPL 2021 with Rahul Dravid appearing in an advertisement at commencement of the season. And the Rahul Dravid CRED ad needed little time in setting the stage alight with the concept endearing to boisterous cricket supporters across the country.

It was down to the narrative of the advertisement with Rahul Dravid being shown in a persona he’s never appeared before. The usually pacified and semblance filled Dravid was seen as an irate with him unleashing his furore in the streets of Bengaluru in the CRED ad.
“Indira Nagar ka Gunda hu main” (I’m the bad boy of Indira Nagar) Dravid was captured yelling while standing out of the panoramic sunroof of his car. It has now been revealed that the Mercedes car used in the advertisement was Rahul Dravid’s himself.
Dravid, the NCA head had purchased the black Mercedes Benz GLE 350 back in 2019. The previous Indian cricketer was more than willing to lend his car for the advertisement shoot.

The car which costs INR 78 lakh, ex-showroom is among a slew of top range Dravid has in his garage. The fondly remembered cricketer is said to hold cars close to his heart and has gone onto build an expansive range of worldclass machines over the years.
Dravid will meanwhile be taking over the coaching role of the Indian cricket team for the Sri Lanka tour. With Ravi Shastri jetting off to England for the WTC final and subsequent test series against England, Dravid was asked by the BCCI to take over charge of the ODI and T20 series in Sri Lanka.
