In the year 1979 during the month of January Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar got the opportunity to join the 61st NDA course. In December 1981 he got his graduation degree from NDA. During his NDA days, he was a part of the Juliet Squadron.
R Hari Kumar got commissioned in NDA in the year 1983 on 1st January. During his long career with NDA, Vice-admiral has served as the Vice Chief of the Defense Staff, Chief Of Personnel, Commanding Flag Officer Of Western Fleet, and Chief of the Western Naval Command.
Hari Kumar has also been a commandant at the Naval War College that is located in Goa. He has also played the role of the naval advisor to the Seychelles government.
