As per reports, the 75 year old Queen Consort has a net worth of $5 million and she inherited $663,000 from her mother’s parents.
What Does Queen Consort Title Mean?
Generally, the title of Queen Consort is given to the wife of a reigning King, however it is not the same role as Queen.
Traditionally, the Queen Consort is crowned during the coronation ceremony with the King, in a similar process.
Though, the Queen Consort doesn’t hold any formal position in the government and she can’t see official state papers.
As per Buckingham Palace, the main role of Queen Consort is to “provide companionship” along with “moral and practical support” to the monarch.
Camilla will now take on the position of Queen Consort while supporting her grieving husband as he speaks with “great sadness” following his mother’s death.
Why didn’t Camilla become Queen?
As per reports, the Duchess of Cornwall cannot become Queen because the Royal throne can not be inherited by the members who have married into the royal family.
Earlier this year on the eve of her Platinum Jubilee in February, Queen Elizabeth II announced that it was her “sincere wish” for Camilla to become Queen Consort when Prince Charles becomes King.
This title is a new change for the Duchess as when Camilla married the Prince of Wales back in 2005, she was given a title of Princess Consort.
Though it is thought by everyone that this was due to Camilla being Prince’s second wife after the late Princess’ Diana, who was beloved by the nation.
