Pro-Wrestling Illustrated has continued to publish its list of the top 500 professional wrestlers each year in an annual special edition magazine called PWI 500 since 1991. While the current AEW World Champion and AAA Mega Champion Kenny Omega grabbed the number one spot on the list for this year, that too for the second time, read on to know about all the wrestlers who have achieved this feat over the years.

All Number One Male Wrestlers On The PWI Top 500 Full List

Wrestlers are chosen by the PWI writers following a designated evaluation period which starts from mid-June. Anything a wrestler accomplishes outside this period is not considered. The criteria they follow includes championships won, win-loss record, quality of competition, major feuds, prominence within their individual promotion(s), and overall wrestling ability.

An American professional wrestling magazine, PWI was founded in 1979 has lives on to be sold internationally,  It is the longest published pro-wrestling magazine in English which is still in production and is headquartered at Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, published by the Kappa Publishing Group.

While Pro Wrestling Illustrated has been publishing their annual Top 500 Wrestlers Rankings since 1991, the magazine added an annual Top 50 Female Wrestlers list in the year 2008. However, this was later expanded and renamed the Top 100 Female Wrestlers list in 2018. They also added an annual Top 50 Tag Teams rankings in 2020. FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) from AEW topped the inaugural list for the same last year.
