The Indian badminton player was supposed to get better before the BWF World Tour Finals at the end of the season, but she has been behind schedule. Sindhu’s team has already told the Badminton Association of India (BAI) that she is pulling out of the tournament.
PV Sindhu’s Father Told PTI About Her Recovery
Sindhu’s father, PV Ramana, told PTI that Sindhu’s doctor told her to take a little more time to fully heal before the new season. “She has talked about the pros and cons, including how Guangzhou has a lot of rules. “She made this choice with the new season in mind,” Ramana explained.
COVID-19 cases are on the rise in China, so the government has made Guangzhou and other cities follow strict rules. This could make it harder for players to get to the city for the BWF World Tour Finals. “Next year, she will need to be at her best for both the Asian Games and qualifying for the 2024 Olympics in Paris. It will be hard for her to play in about 22 tournaments, so she is taking extra care,” Ramana said.
Will PV Sindhu Be Back By 2023?
Ramana, on the other hand, said that PV Sindhu has already started training and should be back on the court by January 2023. PV Sindhu’s withdrawal means that India will only be able to send HS Prannoy, who is third in the BWF World Tour rankings for men’s singles, to the BWF World Tour Finals 2022.
Kidambi Srikanth, who is 10th in the Race to Guangzhou, also has a chance to make the cut if he does well at the Australian Open BWF Super 300 event, which starts on Tuesday in Sydney. The 11th-ranked Lakshya Sen had to drop out of an event in Australia because he had a throat infection. He will also miss the bus to Guangzhou.
