Punjab Kings named their new World Cup-winning coach, Trevor Bayliss, for the 2023 IPL season, after they parted ways with Anil Kumble
The 59-year-old is on his way to becoming the head coach of the Punjab Kings in the upcoming 2023 IPL. Trevor Bayliss has great coaching records, leading England’s men’s team to their first-ever Cricket World Cup title in 2019.

He also served on the Sri Lankan National Team, which finished second at the 2011 Cricket World Cup. With all his great accomplishments, Trevor Bayliss is ready to join the side of the Punjab kings. The team managed to make the final only once in the history of the IPL. The management of Punjab Kings has great confidence in Trevor, and believes the team will be highly successful under his coaching.
The signing of the contract is not yet complete and is expected to be completed in a shorter period.
Punjab Kings record under Anil Kumble
Punjab Kings were underwhelming performers under Anil Kumble. Punjab Kings were able to secure victories in 19 games and had to face defeat in 23 games over a three-year period. Following Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL since 2020, the team had its second worst win-loss ratio. After a back-to-back poor run of performances in the competition, the board comprised of co-owners Preity Zinta, Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia and Karan Paul along with the teamโs CEO Satish Menon made a decision to let Kumble go.

Born on 21 December 1962, Trevor Harley Bayliss is an Australian cricket coach and former first-class cricket player. Before his career as a professional coach, he played for New South Wales between 1985 and 1997.
He coached Sri Lanka’s national team from 2007 until 2011. Under his direction, Sri Lanka managed to reach the final of the 2011 Cricket World Cup. He even worked as a head coach on the national side of England from 2015 to 2019. England won its inaugural World Cup title with Trevor Bayliss in 2019.
He also managed the Kolkata Knight Riders and under his management, KKR won two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014. In the Big Bash League, Trevor Bayliss helped the Sydney Sixers win the BBL title in 2011-12 and a champions league in the same year. While his salary with Punjab is not known, he was paid Rs.2.25 crore per season during his time at SRH.
