Punjab Kings have made a big decision ahead of the IPL 2023, know about the new head coach announcement
The team is looking after a change as they are still thriving for thier first-ever title. After 3 years of tenure Punjab Kings part ways with Head coach Anil Kumble. During Kumble’s coaching period Punjab has never finished above 6th position which made the Franchise take this bold step.

The former Indian captain had a forgettable spell at PBKS as his team has more losses games than victory. In Kumble’s tenure, PBKS has played 42 games in which they’ve lost 22 games and won 18 and 2 games ended up with No Result. Punjab’s best season under Kumble was the last one in which they finished 6th among 10 teams. Thier win percentage in the 2022 season was 50.00% which was the best since the 2014 campaign when they reached the final.
Punjab King’s Struggles with coaches continue
Nothing has worked for the Punjab Kings as they have changed 5 Coaches in the span of 6 years. Sanjay Bangar who made Punjab reach thier first-ever title in 2014 was sacked by PBKS in 2016. Then in 2017, they signed thier former captain Virender Sehwag as a Head coach but that also didn’t end up well. In 2018 Punjab made a big statement by giving former Australian all-rounder Brad Hodge the Head coach position which resulted in 7th Position at the table. In 2019, Hodge was also sacked and Mike Hesson got the responsibility of managing the Kings. Hesson’s Punjab spell was also forgettable as the team finished at the 6th position once again.
In 2020 Punjab Kings Management showed faith in India’s legendary spinner Anil Kumble. Kumble has also coached RCB and Mumbai Indians and the Indian national team previously so he had coaching experience. Now after 3 seasons Punjab Kings part ways with Head coach Anil Kumble.
The new coach will decide the Faith of Mayank’s captaincy
Punjab Kings have that the announcement of New Head Coach will soon be out. The new coach will take some big decisions in the team including the leadership role. Aggarwal’s captaincy hasn’t been that bad but it has taken a toll on his batting. Mayank Averaged below 20 in the IPL 2022.
