Christophe failed to lead the club to Champions League glory after initially taking over from Mauricio Pochettino in July 2022.
Despite boasting one of the strongest squads in the world with the likes of Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe leading the attack, the 56-year-old failed to reap the benefits.
PSG crashed out of the Champions League following a 3-0 aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich. Meanwhile Marseille went on to beat them in the Coupe de France. With just the Ligue 1 title as their only silverware this season, the Frenchman failed to keep a hold on his managerial position.
PSG next manager odds according to Betfair
Given below are the next manager odds as revealed by Betfair:
Manager | Odds |
Jose Mourinho | 5/4 |
Thiago Motta | 2/1 |
Julian Nagelsmann | 3/1 |
Mauricio Pochettino | 20/1 |
Thomas Tuchel | 25/1 |
Unai Emery | 33/1 |
Carlo Ancelotti | 33/1 |
What does Mourinho say?
While bookies Betfair have put Jose Mourinho as the leading favourite to take up the new role, the Portuguese legend has something else to say. Mourinho is currently working as the manager at Roma in the Serie A. He has previously worked at Porto, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Inter Milan and he has won the Champions League twice.
Despite the high odds, the 60-year-old simply laughed off reports that Paris Saint-Germain have contacted him.
He said:
If they called, they didn’t find me, I’ve never spoken to them.”
Behind Mourinho is Bologna manager Thiago Motta who has the next best odds at 2/1. Interestingly, Motta knows the club better than most of the candidates on the list having made over 230 appearances for PSG from 2012-2018.
Former Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann comes at third with 3/1 odds. However, the highly-rated German manager is touted to accept the vacant position at Tottenham instead. The rest of the other four managers are all former PSG bosses. Mauricio Pochettino has 20/1 odds, ahead of Thomas Tuchel with 25/1 chance. Meanwhile, Unai Emery and Carlo Ancelotti both have 33/1 odds.
