Mayor Jeanne d’Hauteserre on PSG’s Champions League parade
Local officials first rejected a march because store owners were afraid of major disruptions, Mayor Jeanne d’Hauteserre of Paris’ eighth district told AFP.
“It is agreed that, at the request of PSG and with the approval of the Elysée, the French president’s office and residence there will be a parade, in the event of victory, between the Champs-Élysées roundabout and the Arc de Triomphe,” the mayor said.
Following their 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in Munich, Paris Saint-Germain’s historic first Champions League victory celebration was marred by nearly 300 arrests on Saturday as thousands of fans crowded the streets of Paris. The majority of the arrests were related to fireworks possession and public disturbance near the Champs-Elysees avenue and Parc des Princes stadium.
